Intelligent Charger

MagicStar (OZ862), the Low Cost Intelligent Charger, charges notebook batteries with unmatched efficiency and reliability. The OZ862 operates as a stand-alone charger or under the supervision of a host micro-controller. It is intended for single battery pack charging of 3- and 4-cell battery packs. The OZ862 simplifies charging by combining all the necessary power supply and charge control circuitry into a small 20-pin plastic SSOP package.

• Reference voltage precision less than 0.7%
• Charges various battery chemistries including LiIon, NiCd, and NiMH
• Built-in protection from AC adapter under-voltage, battery under-voltage, over-voltage and short-circuit
• 100% maximum switching duty cycle, with very low charger voltage overhead
• Supports battery learning mode through the Battery Low signal
• Provides protection from charging through an aircraft power outlet, as specified by the FAA
• Switches automatically to power-saving mode when the AC adapter is removed
• Easy charge voltage selection via logic level control
• Supports charging voltage correction to compensate for system induced voltage drop
