General Inquiries
Santa Clara, CA - O2Micro Incorporated, a leading supplier of innovative ICs to notebook manufacturers worldwide, announces the introduction of a new advanced single chip Smart Power Management Unit (PMU) -- OZ990.
Packaged in a space saving 28 pin SSOP or standard SOP, the OZ990 Smart PMU is the only highly integrated smart PMU with alternative PMU and General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) modes that complies to Intel's System Management Bus (SMBus) specification, release 1.0. The OZ990's 4 Power Control and 16 Programmable General Purpose I/O pins allow flexibility for a variety of functions such as Power Control with sequencing, programmable inputs/outputs, SMBALERT/SMIEVENT interrupt services, power-saving Suspend/Wakeup, Wakeup-Disable, Power-On, modularized hardware ID, and Auto LED Flash (ALF) status display. OZ990's other features include hardware-driven speaker alarm output and Suspend/Wakeup button.
The OZ990 allows the implementation of Green PC Desktop chipsets in notebook designs at considerably lower cost than conventional methods. With the OZ990 stand alone PMU capability, the user can create a "one-shot" design for PMU/BIOS which essentially eliminates a redesign when changing core logic. The OZ990 supports PentiumPro and x86 based designs, operates at 32 KHZ, has 5V tolerant inputs, supports mixed 3.3V/5V supply and features extra LOW power saving suspend mode.
The OZ990 is in production and samples are available. A software programming kit is available.
