O2Micro Granted Patent for Light Source Driving Methodology

October 16, 2012. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ Global Select Market: OIIM), a global leader in the design, development and marketing of high-performance integrated circuits and solutions, today announced that it was issued 20 claims under United States patent number 8,228,004 for its Light Source Driving Circuit and Methodology.

The patented driving circuit provides an intelligent dimming control function to adjust the LED light intensity. Using signals derived from the AC input voltage, this invention offers a superior power factor while providing low-cost system design.

"This methodology ensures that the dimming control signal is not affected by any AC voltage variation and results in a relatively constant illumination of the light source," said Dr. Yung Lin, executive vice president, O2Micro.
