O2Micro Granted Patent for Cordless Power Tool Invention

August 21, 2008. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ®: OIIM; SEHK: 0457), a leading supplier of innovative power management and security components and systems, was issued 8 claims under United States patent number 7,385,795 for its Cordless Power Tool invention.

O2Micro's patented invention provides a weak link protection system for cordless power tools with monitoring circuitry to detect power losses and current levels to/from the removable, rechargeable battery pack. Some examples of cordless power tools include drills, circular saws, reciprocating saws, sanders, and screwdrivers.
