Major LCD TV and Monitor Systems Patent Continuation Granted to O2Micro
March 7, 2006. O2Micro® International Limited (Nasdaq: OIIM), a leading supplier of innovative power management and
security components and systems for the Computer, Consumer, Industrial, and Communications markets, was granted 11 claims under United States patent number 6,999,328 for its Phase-on-demand™ invention; a continuation of the invention issued August 2004 under United States patent number
6,778,415.
"O2Micro's patented Phase-on-demand™ invention is the latest scan-mode backlight inverter technology used in LCD TV applications. This invention enhances the viewer's experience by providing the best resolution for motion picture movement. In
addition, this invention simplifies the system design, while reducing the overall system cost," commented Dr. Yung Lin, executive vice president of O2Micro's Intelligent Lighting business unit.
This invention is a new key element in the family of backlight inverter IC solutions used for large panel LCD applications. It is designed for large panel LCD applications that require multiple lamps used in LCD TVs or LCD Monitors.
