O2Micro Granted Significant Phase Array Inverter Patent in Korea
February 9, 2006. O2Micro® International Limited (Nasdaq: OIIM), a leading supplier of innovative power management and
security components and systems for the Computer, Consumer, Industrial, and Communications markets, was granted 78 claims under Korea patent number 0537534 for its Phase Array invention.
This patented architecture is the basis of O2Micro's Phase Array backlight Intelligent Inverter® product family, designed for large LCD panel applications that require multiple lamps, such as LCD TVs and monitors. This results in lower system cost
and increased system performance by reducing the ripple current during Low Frequency Pulse Width Modulation (LPWM) dimming.
"This patented architecture provides phased dimming control that is desirable for all large-size LCD monitor and TV applications," stated Dr. Yung Lin, executive vice president of O2Micro's Intelligent Lighting business unit. "It's very exciting
to receive a patent grant from Korea, the world's largest supplier of large-size LCD panels, for this architecture."
