UK Patent Granted for O2Micro's Reconfigurable Flash Media Reader System
August 18, 2005. O2Micro® International Limited (Nasdaq: OIIM), a leading supplier of innovative power management and
security components and systems for the Computer, Consumer, Industrial, and Communications markets, was granted 34 claims under GB (Great Britain) patent number 2,383,169 for its Reconfigurable Flash Media Reader System.
The Reconfigurable Flash Media Reader System supports both synchronous and asynchronous Smart Cards with non-volatile storage. This invention provides a system that increases the data bandwidth for ISO7816-10 synchronous Smart Cards over a USB connection by interleaving clock and data information
into USB bulk transfer packets. Applications include PC systems and peripherals.
