O2Micro's Battery Management System Receives U.S. Patent

March 28, 2012. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ: OIIM) was issued 20 claims under United States patent number 8,022,669 for its Battery Management System.

O2Micro's patented architecture enables low cost communications between stacked battery monitoring units in Electric and Hybrid Vehicles (EV and HEV) without expensive isolation components. Further, there is a redundant communications path should a fault condition occur in the default path.

"This can significantly improve the cost and reliability of the Battery Management System in EVs, HEVs, and other high voltage applications as a result of this invention," said Bill Densham, strategic marketing director, O2Micro.
