O2Micro Granted Patent for New Battery Cell Balancing Method

March 21, 2012. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ: OIIM) was issued 22 claims under United States patent number 7,973,514 for its Battery Cell Balancing System.

This patented system extends battery life by providing battery cell balancing for the battery pack using current regulators. It can balance multiple cells simultaneously for electrical systems in vehicle, bicycle, motorcycle, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) applications.

Laszlo Lipcsei, vice president at O2Micro, remarked "This invention balances the battery pack in electronic devices, while saving space and reducing cost."
