O2Micro's Industry Leading Precision Circuit Trimming Method Receives Patent

November 14, 2008. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ®: OIIM; SEHK: 0457), a leading supplier of innovative power management and security components, was issued 19 claims under United States patent number 7,436,222 for its Precision Trimming Method, also referred to as DigitalLaserTrim™, for integrated circuits; a continuation of the invention issued January 2006 under United States patent number 7,319,346.

O2Micro's Precision Trimming methodology is used to adjust the after-package accuracy of various electrical parameters. It is implemented in Direct Current-to-Direct Current (DC/DC) power control, battery cell balancing, and battery charging applications. It also applies to basic circuits used as core building blocks, such as mixed-signal data converters, waveform generators, precision DC output circuits, precision comparators, and many others.

Dr. Alex Hartular, vice president, O2Micro, commented "This patent extends O2Micro's offering of high precision integrated circuits, resulting in lower costs and potentially smaller package size for a given precision circuit."
