O2Micro Granted Significant Patent for Free Dimming™ Invention

April 30, 2012. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ: OIIM) was issued 20 claims under United States patent number 8,111,017 for its Circuits and Methods for LED Free Dimming™ control.

Free Dimming is O2Micro's dimming technology built into a LED light source. It allows the end-user to toggle dimming control using a standard on/off wall switch.

Dr. Yung Lin, executive vice president at O2Micro, remarked "The patented technology enables dimming control in LED lighting with various dimming mechanisms."
