Patent Issued for O2Micro's LCD Panel Power Supply Architecture

October 8, 2008. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ®: OIIM; SEHK: 0457), a leading supplier of innovative power management and security components, was issued 7 claims under United States patent number 7,425,949 for its LCD Panel Power Supply architecture.

This patented backlight power supply invention provides a low cost power supply solution for a multiple Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) driving topology used in large-size LCD TV applications. It is adapted for applications requiring long or U-shaped lamps, and can be adapted to convert a high voltage DC (Direct Current) signal to a high voltage AC (Alternating Current) signal for off-line applications.

"This invention reduces the backlight module cost by allowing the designer to utilize low cost transformers for off-line applications," commented Dr. Yung Lin, executive vice president of O2Micro.
