O2Micro Granted Dual Mode Smart Card Controller Patent

February 20, 2007. O2Micro® International Limited (NASDAQ®: OIIM; SEHK: 0457), a leading supplier of innovative power management and security components and systems, was issued 18 claims under United States patent number 7,150,397 for its Dual Mode Controller for ISO7816 and USB enabled Smart Cards; a continuation of the invention issued July 2005 under United States patent number 6,913,196.

This controller architecture is designed to add USB Smart Card applications to existing ISO7816 Smart Card enabled PC systems without modifying conventional software drivers and applications.
